Default ml 320 oil burning

Hello all! I have had my 2000 ml 320 for 60 days. The oil is about 1.5 quarts low. It only has 39000 miles. Any help?

Are you sure its burning oil? Not losing oil 39k miles you should not be burning oil I would look to see if you have a leak, possible leak areas are the oil filter, oil drain plug. If you don't have a concreate driveway place newspaper or cardboard under the engine dept. to help check to see if it is a leak. Does the car have any blue/White smoke coming out of the exahust pipe ? That would indicate the problems sleepwalker had mentioned.

mercedes benz specs on oil usage is about a quart every 1000miles--- i would not wait the recommended 10,000 miles between oil changes..the dirtier the oil the quicker it burns--also ML'S tend to use more oil on long distance trips---- dealer can performed an internal engine clean that might help reduce the sludge inside the engine ---
