Default 190E - Burning Oil first 10 mins

Hi,

Recently my 190E has been burning what smells and looks like oil for the first 10 minutes or so. I have heard this could be due to the washers being broken or worn, resulting in oil slowly leaking into the cylinders.

Is this an expensive problem to fix, or should I think about getting shot of it?

Thanks,

My guess is that your referring to the valve guide seals (washers?) And yes that will cause some smoke on start-up. Not sure how much it would be in the UK to get this fixed....

The seals themselves cost about £20 a set from isaac agnew mercedes benz dealership. To fit them it can be done without removing the head it could cost £50-£100 depending on the mechanic! I also got the cyl head valves grinded in and the valve guides replaced with titanium ones. This has stopped the before minimal oil consumption the car had. I would recomend that you buy a haynes manual and do it yourself. All this work costs about £200 in head maching and parts. If you want more info just reply!
