Replacement tires for Pirelly P7000s
I'm a new guy to the forum, having just purchased a 1999 SLK 230 with 29,000 miles. The tires are the Pirelli P7000 but I understand they are no longer made, and it appears I'll be looking for new tires pretty soon. How are the P-Zero tires? Anyone out there have a recommendation for good summer driving, without too much noise, reasonable wear, good stick? I live in the mountains, very little freeway driving anticipated. Most of my daily driving is winding 2-lane roads.
I've had a 1983 MB sedan since 1987, finally retired it, gave it to my son-in-law.

The P-Zero's are excellent tires. They are actually designed to run with zero air pressure, hence the name P-Zero. This type of tire along with the Goodyear EMTs (Extended Mobility Tire) have thick sidewalls and ride a little harsher than other tires.
The Kumhos are outstanding tires and preferred by many enthusiasts as are the Michelin Pilot Sport and the Goodyear Eagle F1s. If you want the safety of a run-flat tire, the P-Zero is a great tire. Just ensure you get tires properly speed rated for the car. I will only run "Z" rated tires, which are rated at 149+ mph on my SKL or my Corvette. Actually tires are referred to as Z rated, but Z is now broken down into multiple classes. The real ratings are V - 149 mph, W - 168 mph, and Y 186 mph.
