I have replaced the Continentals with Dayton HP tires. I am really not impressed. The Conti's wore even and replaced at 30,000 miles just before a 6000 mile trip. The dayton's have cupped on the inside edges. MB's states the car is aligned properly and these tires and not the best for this car. I looked at Michelin's and OE Conti's but they were also very rated very poor at tirerack.\

I was just wondering what people are using and does anyone have a similar problem. My Corvette had a similar issue but my Corvette specialty shop was able to correct the inside wear issue. However noone will even look at the E500 and the answers I get are "it is in spec".

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Jim

 

New E500's come with a brand new model from Michelin. The Michelin Pilot MX MPM4 (or maybe M4MP) tires are pretty amazing. Great traction in rain and snow, and nearly as good performance as tires not rated as all-season for handling. I like mine a whole bunch.

 

Check out the General Exclaim UHP on the Tire Rack website. Currently they are number one in reviews by buyers. It's a new line of high end tire from General and they are priced right. General hasn't been known for high performance or raising any eyebrows before, but they are creating a stir now.
I just put a set (245/35WR19) on my E500 last week. A little too early to tell much other than they are quiet, handle well and ride quite smooth. According to the reviewers they are terrific in the rain and last longer than most.
