Default Remote locking

I have a 1997 E320 purhcased last summer with 56,300 mile. Other than a few repairs, i.e. both rear outer tail lights and tires I have had no problem. Shortly after getting the car the trunk remote lock stopped working. That didn't bother me much but now the drivers door remote doesn't work either. I replaced the batterys in the remote flip key with no positive results. Can anyone suggest a fix that might be a DIYS or do I have to go to the dealer>

Do the other doors and fuel flap work correctly on the remote?

If so you have a failed boot and door pneumatic lock mechanism.

If not then the pneumatic pump (called PSE) located in the boot has gone defective or alternatively the Remote/DAS (receives the signal from the remote) is not working.

If PSE is defective , what does that run to fix ? My gas cap door is locked and I cannot open it even when car is unlocked .

The gas door can be released manually behind the liner, you could have a bad pump

Not sure of USA pricing. Pure guess 200USD?

Its a plug in "black box" that contains a mix of mechanical (pump), electrical (relays) and electronic (logic sensing) components.
