Default RE: BAS and ASR Problem

The same thing just happened to me yesterday on my 2002 E320 Wagon. I bought the car with 60k miles in June and the dealer had just installed a new master cylinder. Could this BAS issue be the master cylinder?

Thank you for any feedback.

Check your battery voltage,if it drops below a set voltage(about 11 volts) the warning lamp will come on and you will lose those features. If battery checks fine, any auto chain store autozone etc will check it for free or if you have a multimeter you can do it.Then you need to check your brake fluid level.then the last and most common cause after ruling out the others is an easy fix the replacement of the brake switch

diy on www.benzworld.org w210 forum diy section brake area about $20 for the updated switch at the dealer or autohausaz.com for less if you order some other supplies and get your order over 50 shipping is free.

Last winter my BAS light would come on during my commute to work.. but only if the temp was below about 20 degrees. It was the most bizarre thing. It has not come on since and I expect it to start up again once the temp drops even more. I was told that my brake switch above the pedal needed to be replaced. I can live with that anomaly but may DI myself if it's only $20. Good luck!

Thank you all for the input.

I have check a few things and the result is that my brake lights are working. ABS works too but the cruise control and traction (ASR) are offline.

Replacing the switch is easy but i would like to rule out all other things as getting parts for my car here is a problem and i will have to ask someone to get them from somehere else. So please let me know what else can go wrong.[/align]

Brake lights could work, switch could still be faulty.

I had the same problem, disconnect your battery for few (2-3) minutes and it will reset itself. I had to do that in order to reset my check engine light. It worked.
