Best tires I ever had, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 245/45/17s, 400 treadwear, AA, A temp. OEMs Continentals, P.O.S. I just bought a new set, this time ZP (Zero Presure) for an 2004 E500 Guard B4, they are excelent. Previous ones in my 2003 E320 where about 20k miles and they where still great. They cost about 300 usd here in Mexico, and about 200 usd in tire track.

Cupping and noise not only comes from misalignment. There are such things as "bad tires" plain and simple! However, if you notice that you're always having tire issues, and alignment issues, then certainly it is indicative of some underlying cause, i.e., tie-rod end, control arm issues, ball-joints, swaybars/links, etc. So, all of these things need to be checked as well. Don't just leave it to the mechanic to determine. Have him walk you around the car (if allowed), and ask questions. You never know what you may find out. You may find out something that maybe break your heart, but just may save your life!

 

I have a 2003 E320 ... bought used recently, and the dealer put Capitol 225/55R16 94V M+S Negotiator NV700 tires on mine. I cannot, for the life of me, find any information online about these tires - but I know they are 'made in Japan'. At this point, they have several thousand miles on them and are super quiet - no road noise to speak of and handle very well. I doubt I'd buy them as replacements (since I can't find them) but so far, they seem good, are very quiet, and are directionals - look good. I'm sure they are not expensive.

 

Then you haven't looked very hard! All you had to do was google them, and they pop-up! Hmmmm. Shame!!!
