Default 2002 C230 Panoramic Roof Problem

Hello all

Problem with the roof.

The glass roof closes fine thankfuly but the before the plastic sun shade even begins to close the motor just begins a loud clicking/
grinding noise. Is there any way to manually close the sun shade until I can get it to the shop?

I have sent away for a owners manual but quite frankly my head is burning.

there is a cranking tool including in your tool kit or inserted in user's manual.

crank the left side motor.

maybe you might need to pry off the lens of the dome lamp to access the hole.

With sleepwalkers help and the following website -

http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cont...ve_manual.html

I can describe what the correct procedure for manualy closing the roof shade:
Turn off the car and pull out the key.
Pull off the large forward lamp dome.
This reveals two white sliding levers.
Push both levers towards the from of the car and simultaneously pull down on the entire light/roof switch assembly. (a tricky maneuver)
The entire assembly pivots down and then releases. (still attached to the car by wires)
This then exposes the motors
Use the key supplied with the car to slowly crank the appropriate motor.
It will take some time to fully close the shade.

In my car the shade was activated by the right hand motor.

Once I cranked it a few turns, it closed with the motor. I am however still having problems with the roof. When I open the shade normally, it will not then close. I tried to run the reset procedure but to no avail. I guess I still need to get it to the shop.

Thanks again Sleepwalker.

Hopefuly I'll get that manual soon.
