Default 2003 C230K Coupe panoramic roof problem

Hi everyone, I hope that someone out there can help me. I tried to open my roof last week after it not being used for a few months and after a few moments of horrible clunking noises it decided to begin to open/lift on the right hand side and not the left. The blind works fine and it closes perfectly but when I try to open again it does exactly the same and slightly opens to the right then stops as the roof twists out of shape. I know where the motors are, and hand cranking obtains the same results. I believe it could be a broken rod which operates the left side but does anyone know how I can find out and repair as any of the components seem almost impossible to reach without opening the roof. I am a generator maintenance technician by trade so am not afraid of the work but would really appreciate some advice from someone with knowledge of the workings of these roofs. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Gavin.

Default RE: 2003 C230K Coupe panoramic roof problem

I am not a mechanic at all but have had panoramic roof problems while the car was under warrantee. I am pretty sure the dealership removed the interior headliner to work on the roof when it wouldn't open. The removal can take time but should go out the hatchback. Beyond that I am of no help.
Good luck.
