260SE 6-cylinder W126
Hallo all.
I'm new here and I've gone through as many of the threads related to my problem as possible.
I got a 1989 W126 6-cylinder Manual 260SE passed on to me. It had a Fuel Pump Relay problem and I got a replacement from a salvage. The current one works fine I guess. The original was a 0035452405 but the "new" one is a 0035452005. The only problem I've noticed so far is that the red-line is now below the original 6000+; approximately about 4000. Will the use of this relay bring about any damage to the car?
I also noticed something else especially after refueling. While moving, there's usually some strong petrol fumes in the cabin. What could be the problem?
The car also overheats. I'm not sure this is overheating because the gauge is usually about 100+ but never in the red zone. I noticed that the car leaks water (coolant) from the puddle I get while parked, especially while parked at a slope. This I could also I guess this I'll look into to trace the leakage point.
My handbreak doesn't work too. How do I fix this?

Idler Pulley?
Hey, I have a 2002 E430 with 86k miles on it. The top idler pulley just disintegrated. I am talking about the pulley that is above the water pump pulley, not the tensioner pulley.
I removed the bolt in order to replace it, and the bolt is too long....it doesnt clear the fan. Can I just unscrew the fan clutch from the water pump? Or do I need to remove the fan shroud, fan, and radiator? Thanks.

first benz...
my son traed a project truck for this car,in hopes he could get it running and have a nice daily driver...he just got his licence about 3 weeks ago,the day he got his licence, our van died -unrepairable,so the most reliable vehicle my family is using is my 85 jeep grand wagoneer which gets a whopping 9-11 mpg ...we'd really like to get the benz going... here's whats up: the cat was melted,we cut it out-now the car will start, but only run for 25-30 seconds...we changed out the fuel pressure regulator today, now it won't start at all-wierd as it gets fuel through all the lines,if we pour a little gas in the throttle body it will run until that fuel burns out then dies. it gets spark, fuel and air but won't start and run-I don't get it-is it electrical lik a sensor or solenoid?? it's an '86 mercedes 560sel v8.
please let me know if i can provide any more information to diagnose this issue, and thank you in advance for your assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
