Default For guys with true general diesel experience

Excuse the posting not being Benz related! It is however still DIESEL related.

I have now gotten my feet wet with my 300TD.
I love that they are reliable, 99% mechanical, easy to work on, good block etc. Regrettably I have to be honest and admit that I don't like how slow they are even with major upgrades and mods they will never be like 12sec 1/4 mile
Cars. I would like to start with bigger motor truck.

Have been reading up and the word is:
"DRUM ROLL"!!!!!!!!!!

1997 12V dodge cummins. 5 speed
Bugs worked out, non block issue,SOLID P7100 Pump, NO EGR nonsense, not cats, "free breather", no electric computer garbage,

Any other opinions welcomed.

I don't have any experience with Mercedes, but I have personally owned a 1989 Ford that went 750,000 miles before any major problems, no mods, all strictly factory. I had to rebuild the injector pump twice in that 750,000 miles and replaced all of the injectors once. When the crankshaft finally broke (because of the dual mass flywheel failure) it was needing another set of injectors, but still not using oil, and was running strong. I expect my Mercedes to do roughly the same thing, but I would stand the OLD 7.3 liter International engine up against just about anything

As destiny would have it, just ran into some local MIAMI cummins guys who are willing to guide me along.

here is what they can do.

I doubt that I could afford those "internal" type of upgrades but it feels good in knowing that local help is available should I jump over to the DarkSide!

As I said before, anyone can throw cookie-cutter parts at an engine. They can't even figure out how to match a good set of turbos to the engine so they just tossed a bottle of nitrous at it instead.
They don't even know how to do a pre-race burnout!
I agree, nitrous belongs in the dentist's office--not your engine
