Default CDI engine oil for winter

Hi:
I have a 2005 E320 CDI (W211). Does the car need a different grade of oil in winter (considering I live in Canada)?! If so, what is the suitable grade?
I have gone through the massive user's manual, but no information could be found.
Regards,
Farid

You still need a 229.5 oil regardless of season. I know ELF hasa full syn 0W30 thatmeets 229.5. Good stuff and might be slightly thinner than some of the more common offerings.

Left Canada many years ago, but I imagine it is still pretty cold up there. I have used diesels in the mountains in New England, pretty cold there too.

I found that the most useful thing was an oil warmer for the block that could be plugged in at night. Not all cars have them. Don't get the kind that plugs into the dipstick tube: too easy to drive off without removing it.
