My post in the "M class" was unanswered. I know someone has some advice here, so let's hear it.

I'm looking at an 2008 ML350, priced at 29,995. Dealer is playing hard ball and won't come off the price but I really do think it's priced right. I've owned a few MB's and for some reason I've got cold feet. I had my mechanic check it out and he was pleased with it. However, I've heard that the M class was their poorest make. Is there any validity in this? Anyone that actually has one how is the gas mileage in reality?

I'm also looking at the Toyota Hylander and other vehicles in that SUV/crossover world. I know this is a benz forum but are there any comparable vehicles I may be passing over?

Never owned an ML but have you considered an X3 or X5 from BMW or MDX from Acura.
