What if I disconnect the drive shaft and take off that bracket under the end of the transmission? Is that going to let the transmission drop down enough to take the Governor out?

 

Had to drop the transmission. The two plastic gears in the governor were broken. There was a small spring in there that should not be there. And in the diagram it does not shown it. We have no clue where that small spring has come from to break the gears.
Anyway, got the two gears from Mercedes Benz dealer for $10.

All working beautifully. Enjoyed driving it to work this morning. What a nice ride! It is so smooth.
