What price should I pay for this 230?
I am checking out this 1999 Mercedes SLK 230 that was salvaged ---
front-end totaled, with hard to tell if there's engine damage, and some interior works.

The car has 14,000 miles and seems to be in good shape other than the above issues. I would like to know what is a good price to pay for it, Edmunds/Kelly shows the price for this non-damage car around $18,000+. Obviously, I wanted to pay much lower than that to cover my expenses. Here are its pics:

I think it would makes a good racer weekend project if I get a good deal on it. But, how much, assuming i contracting most of work out to a shop?

Thanks in advance.

Bro..honestly i would not pay more than 5000 $ for this car NEVER. In fact I think $5000 dollars is a littlie high. Your are facing some serious repairs here, Apparantly the engine is not damaged, but you have to deal with all the front end (suspension and body)... Minor Interior...and some other details like windshield and some things like that...I had my SLK crashed by a 96' Viper in a race, I only damaged the front left corner of the car and had to replace..bumper..hood..headlamp-(non-xenon)...Left fender..Left fog Light...front Grill...I got the car repaird in an authorisized Mercedes body shop...everything was like $4000 dollars. Runing a repair like the one the car you want needs...I would say its running easily $9000-$12000 getting some of the parts used (which you can) and doing it in a good-decent body shop.
