clock spring/steering and angle sensor replacement
i am trying to replace the steering angle sensor and clock spring on my 1997 sl500. i have removed the steering wheel and the 2 screws in the clock spring. the clock spring feels like it is caught on something or a tab needs to be pushed. anyone done this before
fortunately I haven't had the pleasure of having to get into my 129's steering assembly yet, so I have no hands on. might check for pins or spacers between the spring and shaft. should be wedge shaped arrows pointing to the retainers or a place to pull. my slk clock spring was held down by only the two four wire connectors under the spring in the area of the screws. I pulled the spring off the connectors by hooking under it next to the steering shaft. work your way around the shaft. don't break anything, gentle.
