I have a 1988 560 sl and the antennae seal is missing,do I have to remove the whole antennae Assyrian to install the seal or can I do this from outside the car with antennae in place

 

I have a slightly newer SL, 1996. The plastic cap that you see on the outside (of mine) simply slips on. Although garage kept, the Florida sun shrinks and splits mine in about 5 years. Mine was available at the dealer or for less at Ecklers.

 

I just did both of mine. I have a 2000 sl500,
had to take out the antenna. Pain in the ---.
