just got my 500 sl, and my mechanic tells me it is in limp home mode
and that there may be many reasons

any experience with this?
seems to have 2nd and reverse only

I have an '87 SL that will only go into reverse andI don't know what the problem is; can you tell me what you've learned about your problem? Maybe the problem is related to mine.

On a 500SL Limp Home Modeis a fault in the electronic throttle and has nothing to do with the transmission. If your transmission will not shift to 3rd and 4th gears, then this is a mechical problem that is probably internal to the transmission.
