Default 06 560SL auxiliary water pump.

I am going to replace the auxiliary water pump that it leaking. I might have caused it to leak. The mono-valve doesn't work , have rebuild but still no good. I replace it with an old car hot water heater shut off. I can shut off in summer and adjust water flow in winter. Does this pump run all the time. If so I might have ruin it when I should off the hot water valve in the summer. Would it be best to unplug the juice to the pump in summer when the hot water valve is closed.

Default 87 560SL auxiliary water pump

I'm talking about auxiliary water pump not water pump up front.
