Default Wearable Rotors

We have a 2003 E320 with under 30k. The brake check display recently came on and we took it to get repaired. We were told that the rotors had to be replaced as well because they were wearable as well. In fact, it was said, that Mercedes rotors should be replaced every other brake job. Anyone know if this is true about Mercedes rotors, especially newer ones (2003?)? I've never heard about rotors that wear so quickly...and we do regular brake jobs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

yes, this is true.
I've own my W124 since 1991 and front rotors were always replaced every other brake job. That how the beast like to be fed.
For many trying to use harder brake pad for longer pad life, it is not uncommon fro rotors to need replacing when the pads are worn.

Since rotors need to be replaced, maybe it's good time to upgrade to drilled rotors and high performance brake pads.

It helps wipe away the debris that forms between the pad and the disc, adds more bite, and appearance is much more sporty. There are no cons.

I have heard and read that drilled rotors can crack and break. Personally i like slotted and dimpled cause they offer the same affect without the possiblitiy of cracking. Though the cracking is rare i thought u should know about it.

Right, drilled rotors rarely crack and normally happens to low-quality rotors. Purching drilled rotors from reputable manufacturer should be fine. Dimpled rotors are another great alternative.
