Default Transmission pan leaking, 2000 E320.

2000 E320 rwd w/75k miles

There is a transmission fluid leak all around the transmission pan seal. Would this be a good time to change the trans fluid and filter? I would really appreciate a view of the pages in the repair manual that covers this repair. Thank you

Marty

you should get this fixed ASAP. nothing worse than blowing that year transmission and overhaul would be spendy!

Here is a DIY http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/Trans7226Fluid

i think the 2000 e320 has the 722 tranny but i may be wrong, you might want to check with your dealer/mechanic

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm printing the diy now. I can definitely do this myself, and I have most of the tools already.

I ordered the parts and the dipstick tool. What's the normal operating temp for the trans, is it about the same as the engine? About 90C? Sleepwalker or any MB tech, do you actually use a temp gun or do you just check the trans fluid level when the engine has reached normal operating temp?
