Spark Plugs

Spark Plugs
Just brought my car in for Service B @ 70K miles. Total bill was $900.00 including a new air filter, coolant flush and new fuel filter. They also wanted to put in new plugs for $570.00. Holy crap, I think I'm still capable of changing my own spark plugs. Question is what brand does Mercedes use? I have an '01 E320. The dealer wants $18.00 per plug, but I could buy Bosch platinum for $6.00. Considering that the car needs 12 plugs the $$$ is pretty significant. Any comments on Bosch platinum? Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.

RE: Spark Plugs
Hi,
Why do you need new plugs? Usual change point is every 50k, at least in Europe?
I would use Bosch (used as standard equipment) and stick to the Bosch after market recommendation for your model / type, should you choose not to use MB OE due to cost.

Thank you for letting me know that Bosch is the OEM plug supplier for Mercedes. That basically was my original question.

If you change the plugs yourself, be careful gapping them as the center electrode is very small. Also, use a little anti-seize compund on the threads, and torque according to what your owner's manual says. IF you've changed plugs before, you already know all of this.
I already changed my plugs at 50K miles because I was afraid of the plugs seizing up in the cylinder head after 100K miles. The job took about 2 hrs, and I found it easier to remove the coil packs to get easier access to the plugs.
