Radio Reception
My reception is bad on my 99 e320. How do i fix it? Could it be the antenna adapter is unplugged. I wen to the back of the car and noticed that a piece similar to an antenna plug was not plug into anything. Help. Im tired of listening to cd's. Thanks
I dont know if I can help you but the antenna in mine (97 e320) is in the rear windshield and the connector is in the left rear panel.
I have a similar problem from time to time specially with AM reception but not that bad that I have to listen to CD's all the time.

What am i looking for exactly? I looked in the left rear panel and there are to big block things that are mounter on the side. I took the radio out and i noticed that the antenna adapter is not plugged in.
Is the reception just bad for AM, or FM too? I have had some problems with my '97 E420 on AM reception only, hearing the engine noise on weaker stations. Recently changed plugs and a couple bad plug boots, and had one bad coilpak replaced. AM reception does seem better now, so could have been due to EMI (electromagnetic interference) from the ignition system.
The reception is bad on my AM and FM. I have no clue on what to due. I get reception when im at home and as soon as i drive about 15 miles away, the reception begins to fade. I looked behind the head unit and plugged in the antenna adapter, but the signal is still weak. Any ideas? I dont get any noise from the engine.
I want to thank you guys for all your suggestions. I found the problem. I noticed that there was plug laying around underneath the stock stereo, the plug looked like a stereo mini plug, I then plug it in on the back of the stereo and now my AM/FM works perfect. Thanks
