Default m119 valve cover gasket

Hello everyone, I have a 1993 500e

Has anyone (else) had a valve cover gasket fail filling the spark plug well(s) with oil?

Do I hear a "How to" question anywhere? If you know what failed, what is your question appertaining?

OK, I'll bite.

In specifics, I was wonderring if anyone else has had a similar problem with this particular engine in their vehicle. When it failed, and I tore it down to find the problem. I was a bit surprised to find that the gasket design failed, especially given the fact that there were no noticeable signs of fatigue in the various gasket parts.

In response to the "how to" aspect of your reply, sure any tricks to speed along the process of the repair, or to do it better I readily welcome.

For me the joy of a performance car is to drive it hard, know it's limits, and push the machine there. This car was meant to be driven, not oggled. If they wanted you to just look at it, they would have put a wing on it and cartoon decals all over it.

When something fails I prefer to repair it to the original specs or upgrade it. If I wanted to take it the dealer everytime it broke, I'd be driving an accord and sleeping all the way to work.

No, I don't have any tricks. Of course, you just have to replace it. Be careful. In having mine replaced it took 4 trips to the dealership to get it to seat right. And then it took quite while for the oil to stop oozing and burn off. Don't ask me what happened, but they're a trip when they're changed.

don't have similar experience with you, but probably your valve gasket must be in big trouble.oil leaks are just some of the common problems, and you must locate the source of it. if there's a leak, ignore double thinking..just have your mercedes valve cover gasket replacement...these gasket are typically located between the top of the cylinder head and the bottom of the valve cover..replaced it to avoid leaks to spread.

Sometimes people tighten the living night out of the valve cover bolts, like its the head or something, and deform the seal causing it to pinch out in the middle and leak. You are supposed to use a NEW seal, and only tighten the bolts to "snug", just enough to hold the seal in place.
