Default Window on rear passenger side off track

Hey all! Quick question

I have a 1994 E320, and the rear passenger window has fallen off the track. Is there a quick fix for this, or does it need to go to a professional?

I was thinking I could possibly unscrew the door from the inside, and manually raise the window. Are there any clips holding the door together or screws that I should watch for? If there are clips, will they get damaged upon me trying to remove the inseide panel of the door?

Thank you, and any info provided will be extremely helpful!!!!!

Tracy

Naz,

THanks for the quick reply. Any idea how much those go for, and if a regular auto parts store carries them.

THanks so much

Just click search on this forum and enter "Window Regulator" and you will find lots of advise, even an entry entitled "Part for sale" containing a window regulator.

I replaced mine for about $80 for the part. Last week I read someone's post that gave exact directions including pictures, but I can't find it tonight.

You will have to remove some screws from the door panel, pry the panel off by popping the clips, then drill out the rivits holding the regulator. Then you must rivit the new part in. The original part is put in with aluminum rivits, but I used steel ones. You must then reset the mechanism by rolling thewindow up and holding the switch for about three seconds in order to syncronize the new mechanism. Someone wrote that you have to do the same thing by rolling the window down.

I am sure you can find all that info on the forum.

You need to go to
www.benzworld.org/forums/
and search the web site for "Window Regulator." Select "topics only" in the search. There you will find a DIY pictoral on how to replace the window regulator.

I also saw somewhere that the regulator could be bought for about $40. Sorry I could not find it today.
