remove air bag, remove steering wheel, loosen the screw at the bottom of the steering column, same size as the airbag screws. pull off the whole steering column unit/cover. then disassemble the column, steering angle sensor, and clock spring. this might be something you should have a shop do.You have to be mindful of keeping the clock spring and steering angle sensors at the right place when installing.

I'm replacing the combo switch of my CLK320 2004. I read your post. You say "pull off the whole steering column unit/cover". Is this the finished column tube shell? I'm at a point where I already removed the steering wheel, loosened the bolt at the bottom of the column and the 3 screws of the clock spring. I also installed the red lock pin in the clock spring to keep it attached to the angle sensor. What am I supposed to do next? Remove the clock spring attached to the angle sensor all together as one piece? Please help me out. Thanks.
