Default 98 E320 tighten combination switch / cruise control housing

The housing for the combination switch and cruise control switch behind the steering wheel is loose. It moves 20 degrees every time I activate the blinkers. I was told I have to take off the airbag in the steering wheel to tighten some screws behind the steering wheel. Is this true, and if so, how to do it?
