ABS BAS ESP will not reset
Hi, hope someone can help. I have a 2003 CLK 240.
I have the 'ABS BAS ESP faulty' warning on the dash. The steering to the left and the right reset process has not worked.
I've done 2 things immediately before this happened, changed a section of leaking fuel hose and disconnected and recharged the battery, adding a bit of copper grease to the terminals.
The first time I reconnected the battery there were no warnings but then the above came on when I went for a test drive. This then became just 'BAS ESP unavailable' after driving round a bit. I thought I felt something odd going on with the brakes like the abs was kicking in but could have been mistaken. Tried the steering reset but didn't work. Disconnected and reconnected and I had the same warnings and reset process didn't work. Tried disconnecting overnight but still made no difference. Switched off engine and tried to restart again then the clock ran backwards and engine would not turn over, 'engine service B required now' came up which was new. Disconnected and reconnected battery and it started normally, took it for a short drive and all warnings went away, but then ABS BAS ESP faulty came back on again shortly after. Steering reset process did not work.
Battery showing about 12.5v engine off and about 14.4v engine running. Any idea what else could be going on? Everything has been OK previously. I was trying to route the new fuel hose in/above the fuel tank area so wondering if there is any wiring eg wheel sensor that could have been disturbed or shorted that would cause this? Quite hard to see from underneath.
I don't have a code reader for the car, if it's not something obvious that I've missed it looks like I'll be buying one!
Thanks in advance.
