Exclamation Sunroof problem

Haven't had this problem before. My sunroof will open all but the last 6 inches. While when I set it to autoclose it closes all the way then continues to lift up in the back as if I just opened it that way. I cannot get it to close and stay closed is there some trick to getting this to close? Or even open all the way? I can't bring it to the dealer because I'm sure they will want to replace the whole unit to make more money. Somebody please help!!!

Sounds like the travel in the control unit has to be adjusted -software-.

Have you had a dead battery or replaced it recently? If so, its possible the sunroof needs to be re-synchronized. Check your manual for directions.

I have replaced the battery in the last 2 months but within that time I have taken it to the dealer twice both times having it hooked up to the computer. It was never brought to my attention. Also i drive with it open pretty much daily and it hadn't happened this problem jus started on Saturday. I do not have a manual so I cannot referto it for info. If u happen to have it could u shoot me an email with the info it would be much appreciated.

@joeval - can I adjust it myself or would this have to be done by a tech?

The lack of snychronization will not show up on the dealer computer since it is not an error.
There may be something else wrong but the instructions to re-synch are below. By chance, I just wrote these out a few days ago. The instructions are from my manual for my 2002 C230 sport coupe with panorama roof but from other cars I've owned I believe the instructions are the same. Sunshades instructions may not apply if you don't have them. What year is your car? Coupe or sedan?

To synchronize the panorama roof: The 2002 manual states the following:
Move the switch in the "close" direction, wait until the sunshades are fully closed. Hold on the switch for approx. 1 second.
Move the switch in the "open" drirection, wait until the sunshades are fully opened. Hold on the switch for approx. 1 second.
Move the switch in the "open" direction, wait until the panorama sliding roof is approx. 4 in (10cm) opened.
Move the switch in the "close" direction, wait until the panorama sliding roof is fully closed and hold the switch for approx 1 second.

As I recall, this procedure syncs both the sunshades and the roof. I personally have held the switch for longer than 1 second.
Good luck.
