I have a 2006 SL500

A couple of days ago I tried to raise and close the vario top on my SL and when it got about halfway up it stopped working. I called the Mercedes Service Department and they told me how to get it to close. I did what they said and everything is working fine right now, but I do have a concern. One of the flaps on the underside of the truck lid is not going up all the way. It's the same one I had to play with to get the top to work again and it is hanging down about a half inch and I'm worrying about it causing problems again. Does anyone know how I can fix the flap so it goes up all the way?

In the research I've done I've found that this hanging flap thing is common and usually fixed by installing a repair kit, but I don't want to buy the kit if it won't fix the flap. My question is: Do I need the kit or some other repair and if it is not the kit then can someone let me know what I need to do?
