Default Problem with roof

Help!!! I was in an accident and the roof was knock out of adjustment. After it was repaired...the shop tried to lower it and it is jammed in the half closed position. Spoke to the local Mercedes dealer,,,they don't have a clue...if anyone has any ideas.. please list them. Thanks!!!

Default RE: Problem with roof

Hi, Tall order sorting out whats wrong from a distance especially since the whole linkage could have been bent in the accident. Couple of questions / assumptions first.

Was this a rear end accident? What was the extent of the apparent damage?
Did the roof shut electrically part way and then jam. i.e. won't go either way.
Is there ANY noise from the motor when you operate the switch?

How about using the manual crank to open the roof again. You access the crank thru a hatch on the inside of the boot on the RHS. Details are in your handbook.

If you can get it to open again then try putting it back into the boot MANUALLY taking particular care whether crank loads increase, or even jam, when you get to the same point as it jammed previously.

First thing to do is to determine whether this is a mechanical or electrical problem. The manual crank operation should help in determining this and also get you back on the road.

Advise what additional data you have once yoiu have completed the above.

Did you try to raise it again with engine running?

Good point.
Can't think why but low battery does fit with the symptoms you posted.
