Default Help... K&N Air Filter replacement

HIall...

Am new to the MBZ world, just got a CLS 500 a few weeks ago. Purchased a K&N Filter and need to replace. Not a mechanical novice, but I look in owner's manual and under the hood and ??????????Does anyone have a step by step for assistance in this matter? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks from the desert.

OK, thanks for the help. I was looking for a little more technical assistance. Like, where the heck is the air filter box, how do I access it, how do i get the big MBZ cover off of the motor, etc.

all you have to do is pull the front section up in the front and slide the rear forward. This will remove the front section. Pull the two air intake bellows off of the engine side box, up and away then pull from the front of the vehicle to remove the intake tubes completely. From there you just pull up on the entire air filter box. (You may need to wiggle a little.) There are four rubber grommets with metal clips that hold it onto the engine.
Once it's off the engine there are 5 or 6 T-25 screws you have to remove on each side to access the air filters.
When reinstalling ensure that the rear of the air box is fitted onto the mass air flow sensor completely for proper sealing.

MBGEARHEAD, thank you very much. That was the trick, but now i have to buy another K&N. did not know I needed 2. Well, when i'm ready with both filters, will finish the job. Thank you again for your assistance.
