Default Smog question?

I have recently disconnected my EGR and the vacuum lines on top of the valve cover is that something they will look for when smogging? I can hook them back up if need be just wasn't sure if they'd care or not, or even look. It should pass smog without problems as is I believe, it runs well other than at low rpm's it's low on power, it doesn't smoke excessively throughout acceleration.

Out here in CA they are only smog testing the newer Diesels; I do not remember the exact date.
However, on all of the smog checks here in CA the Person Doing the test is supposed to do a visual Inspection of the Emissions stuff to see if it is disconnected. That person puts into the computer if that stuff is OK or not.

On Gas cars they actually used to verify that your EGR was working by watching the Pintle move or by hooking up a Vacuum pump and applying vacuum at wich point when the EGR opened your Engine would stumble and your rpm would drop.

Now the Machine measures the Exhaust Dilution in order to determine if the EGR is working when it is supposed to.

They also know about putting a BB in the EGR Vacuum Hose to plug it.

In the visual inspection it is going to depend on how much the Inspector knows about your year, make, model and Engine.

Most States do not check Diesels at all.

I forgot to say that if the Inspector does not know your Vehicle he/she will look at your Emission/Vacuum Diagram sticker.
If the sticker is gone they may not pass you.
