peanut oil
ForcedInduction,
Yes indeed; although I have heard this reasoning and though it might sound reasonable to someone wanting to convert their vehicle or just a good excuse to justify getting paid to sell/install a conversion kit to an uninformed person, it is my understanding that it is still only legal to use SVO/WVO as fuel for off road purposes. Do you have any knowledge on the off road use of SVO/WVO?
Just for the record I do not promote the use of SVO/WVO or use it in my vehicle and I applaud your efforts to informed the forum of the legality of using SVO/WVO as a fuel.

I have been looking at the possible use of veggie oil for farm equipment, road taxes/EPA not an issue. The fuel bill is a make-or-break for the small farmer.
However, considering the acreage taken from other crops, the special equipment needed to extract oil from rape or peanuts, and the loss of revenue from simply selling the oil, a farm conversion to veggie oil or biodiesel is problematic. It is not easy to asses changes in maintenance and working life of the equipment.
In this thread there is a cost comparison between diesel fuel and vegetable oils. How was this calculated? Where does one obtain vegetable oil at a price below the cost of diesel?
I know that many are using old oil from fast food joints, but there are costs involved in collecting it even if it is free (it won't be for long). This is not a source to count on.
