How many quarts of oil dose a 1987 300SDL need?

The 300SDL holds 9.6 liters, when you drain or pump out the sump you only get about 8 liters. The other 1.6 liters is in the cooler and lines. It you do not know the history of the car, do a couple of 3K oil changes to "flush" out the system. If you put in 8 quarts you will be 1/2 quart low... nrk
