'85 300d questions
Hello,
I am new here, and have stumbled upon what appears to be a solid 300d at a good price. 227k miles, but runs and drives quite well and I can't find any rust or sign of substantial body damage. I have a basicknowledge of these cars, but need to ask some questions of the experts:
1) The turn signals are completely dead. Nothing happens with steering wheel stalk or hazardswitch. The lights do not come on but not flash as if it was a bad flasher...they do nothing. Could this be as simple as a fuse, or is it be a bigger problem? Other electricals seem fine, only thing I could find not working is one window.
2) The trunkhas no rust I can see, but it did have standing water in it (the carwas recently washed). Does thisindicate a bad trunk seal or something else?
3) Whenshutting down the engine, itgradually winds down over 2-3 seconds rather than stopping immediately. Is this normal or is thevacuum stopabout to give up?
4) The transmission shifts fine but the shifts are hard...problem worth worrying about?
This is a one-owner car from my area at a reasonable price...even the A/C and central locking work! I have not had a chance to review the recordsyet, but the car seems to have been well cared for.
Any advice as to specific things I need to look out for?
Thanks
Scott
