found my dream car

Default found my dream car
a 96 420SEL but it has a ticking noise some say timing chain tensioner should i buy it for 1600 dollars or find one with no problems for a couple thousand more?

Ticking can also mean valves or even an exhaust leak.

$1600 is pretty cheap but not a good deal if it needs a ton of work.

How many miles does it have? Are there any service records?
