Default 88 560SEL power steering

A small leak just started this past week and it is coming from the steering box. I know it will need replaced eventually but so far the steering has not exhibited any problems like a noise or hard steering. What kind of "regular" power steering fluid can I use in the meantime?

if the car haven't involved in minor accident which cause any linkage to bent, then the power steering box can still be repaired.

just replace the two oil seals. that will fix it.

Is that a do it yourself project? Just get the seals at an auto parts store, drain it, and replace them? I'm fairly good at working on automobiles. I would still like an answer to the "what kind of fluid" question. Thanks for the response, though.

your model uses ATF.

you can do it yourself but you need to remove the steering box. if the leak is only coming out on the pitman arm side, then just replace that one.

remember: mark the position of the pitman arm before removing because it will greatly change the toe of wheel alignment.
