Hi PC S class:
Have you made any progress with correcting the problem with your transmission ? Please let me know. I have the same situation happening with a 92 v12 with 70K miles on it. Same exact stuff. Thank you.

Hi coolishlobster-
You suggested to PC S class: please read my posts as they might help..also have you done a tcm reset for the trans adaptations. This was in response to his last post about the trans doing funny things while he was driving at 80-85 mph.
My 92 v12 with 70K on it is doing the same thing as PC S class's car. Could you help me understand what a tcm reset for the trans adaptations means, please ? Thank you kindly.

I have an 1997 S500 and the climate control fan ( the one you can here from outside the car in the cowl area at the base of the windshield ) will not turn off. it will drain the battery down if you dont disconect the battery. I have also tryed pulling the fuses under the hood and in the trunk.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Regards, Jed

Hi yes I will try.......if the gearbox is the electronic adaptation style it means it learns the way you drive and stores these values in the brain.......when the vehicle is new it has the factory settings and these can change depending how you drive so you can reset back to factory and start again the process ..if the car is new to you or even if the car is shared by two very different styles of driving its worth doing a reset to revive it......its simple to do and the procedure can be found on many Mercedes forums(can list it if needed) ....having said all this its also worth reading the codes in the transmission because if there are stored or pending codes these need to be addressed(CLEARED ETC)..and could also pin point a problem in the electrics.....

New Member and new ML320 CDI Sport 2007
Hello there
I am new to the Forum, I live in the UK and have just purchased a 2007 ML320 (after part-exchanging a 2002 ML270 which run fine for us for 5 years).
Our ML320 has done 69,000 miles and came with a full MB service history. As you can imagine, we were chuffed to bits with our latest purchase which was a lovely updated model of the car we had and loved for 5 years.
However, we soon stopped smiling! we have had it 3 weeks tomorrow and have spent £480 on two rear tyres, £312 on getting 3 dunks and an alloy wheel recoated and £306 on an AA inspection (yes, we do wish we'd done this first). They identified a squeak on the rear suspension, the parktronic did not work, an electric side mirror wasn't working, the alarm siren didnt work and there was a wobble on the steering over 60mph.
We booked the vehicle into a local Mercedes Dealer and whilst waiting for it to go in, we had a problem when the reverse gear wouldn't engage (another problem to the list).
Mercedes came back yesterday with a quotation for £2521.00!!!! This will replace the gearing plate at £650, replace the rear suspension arms £810, repair Parktronic £670, repair side mirror £280, repair alarm siren £140.
The reason for the long explanation is this. we are now understandably worried that the whole car is rubbish but we don't understand how the diagnostics work. When Mercedes had it in, do the diagnostics only check only the areas of concern (listed above), or would it have also raised any other issues that might be lurking that we are not yet aware of. I can of course ask the garage when it goes in Monday but I wondered whether you could put our minds at rest (or not) in the meantime?
Thanks all
Regards
Paula

Hello,
new to the forum but have had an ML320 2001 for a numebr of years. Recently had problems with the ESP/BAF/ABS lights and an alarm coming on whilst driving and the car going into limp mode. Took it to a local garage who said that the ECU on the ABS pump was faulty (part no. A163 431 07 12), they tried re-soldering and a few other things but didn't work. I picked up a used pump which had a slightly diffrent part no (A163 431 05 12) to my original one (although when I spoke to Mercedes UK they said the part number should A163 431 04 12). Having replaced the pump the lights are on permanently on now, can anyone tell me if the Pump can be re-programmed/initialised.
Many Thanks

S500 buzzer
I have a 2005 s500. Is there any way I can get my car to beep upon locking/unlocking like some of the newer models. It helps because you get audible confirmation that you locked your car. I live in St Louis, Mo.
