Hot in footwell

Hot in footwell
Can anybody give me some advice.I have a CLS500 petrol and under the steering colum it is very hot.When i put the cool aircon on cold, the air blowing from the floor rises very warm.I have spoke to Mercedes dealer and says it is ok.this cannot be right.Please help
