Have a 2016 GLE-350. Bought it about a year ago, has approx 55K miles now. Love it!

I have an oil question. I checked the oil today. The engine was running and at normal temp. I pulled out the dip stick, wiped it off, and put it back. Waited a bit, pulled it out and it was bone dry. Re insert, wait, remove again, same result. Engine is still running. Turned it off, waited, pulled the dip stick and the oil level was in the middle where it should be. Is this normal for this engine? I read in the owners manual that a certain amount of oil consumption is acceptable (1qt per 600 miles). That seems to be a bit excessive, but I've never owned a MB before.
Any help/advice you can give is appreciated!
