Hi, the brand or type is not important you just want to use a 50/50 mixtureand a40/60(40% coolant 60%water) in the summer time. Mercedes engines tend a little warmer than some engines.

For oil, I have always been a synthetic fan but my Mercedes mechanic swears that Kendal 15 40 is best for these engines.
For spark plugs fork over the extra cash and get bosch platinum 4's. You wont be sorry.

hope this helps.

Another tip that could save you $250.00, If you get a check engine light, before you pay the fee for the shop to hook it up check your engine bay by the battery there should be a built in diagnostic cpu. you hold the button down for a few secs and it flashes a number of beeps which you can look up the code for here on this forum. Its a secret alot of people do not know.

Do not buy just any old coolant. With aluminum engine parts you need to read the labels on the bottles and do not use any coolants that include silicates.

That engine is a 272.964 and Mercedes doesn't offer an engine block for it yet.

If anything happens to those cylinder walls you're looking at a remanufactered base engine assy. that goes for around $8k plus labor ond assembly parts.

Mercedes-Benz Coolant P/N BQ1030002 isn't that expensive and so Go to your local dealer and protect your investment.

Mercedes-Benz recomends Mobil One full synthetic engine oil and you can find the viscosity recomended in your owners manual but my recomendation is to establish a working relationship with your local Dealer as you will need them eventually, guarenteed.

The technology in these vehicles are on the level of a space shuttle and you won't be doing much work on it yourself as you won't have the tools nor the technical information needed.
