I have a 92 500sl that will not start. When I turn the key, all of the dash lights come on...... but the starter does not turn. The last two month, I could move the steering column up or down and it would start. Now, I get nothing. Could the tumbler or lock gone bad? If so, how do I fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

 

Not likely, the tumbler drives the switch behind it. Sounds like you have a pinched wire or a loose connection. Recommend you take it to your nearest factory authorized dealer where they will correctly diagnose the problem and give you an estimate to repair.
