ASR ??? WHY??? 92 500SL BIG PROBLEM
I have looked and looked on evey web page I can find and I still can't understand how to turn off the asr system. I don't want it. I don't need it. And most of all I hate it. I love my car. I've had it about 6 mos. or so. But I have had problems with asr almost since I picked it up. Again I love the car and love to drive it ......untill the limp home mode kicks in. I have been turning the key back very quickly and it resets for a little while. Most of the threads I have looked at are older. Wondered if everyone got their's fixed and no need for any more discussion? Or did everyone give up on turning the thing off. Please let me know.... Thanks........PS I have a set of wheels for a newer mb. They look brand new. If I figure out how to put pics on here, I will
Thanks for any help. Love the forum.

Hi,
You want to turn it OFF because it doesn't work correct;y?
So why not try to make it work correctly.
Can't be impossible.
So exactly whats wrong with it. As much history and actions taken as possible please and we will see if we can suggest ways of fixing that you have not yet undertaken.
Early ASR's very troublesome if the voltage supplied was out of range but more later.
ABS working correctly? Are you sure? You can hear and feel the system pulsing under appropriate conditions?

RE: ASR ??? WHY??? 92 500SL BIG PROBLEM
It just comes on for no reason. I have tried to figure out, is there something special or different that me or the car is doing that would cause it to come on, and I can't tell. At start up its fine. Sometimes it takes 5 miles before it comes on, others 500 feet. On a normal trip to the store ( about 20 miles round trip) it has come on 10 times. Other times it might not come on at all, but more times than not, it comes on. Voltage is fine. ABS is fine, I can break hard and it works great. I have an appt friday with the local mb shop. I just don't want to spend more than I paid for the car to get this fixed.
thanks for any help that you can give
