Default 280CE ignition problem

Greetings from Texas,

I have a 1981 280ce that my son was driving that decided one morning not to start. I am getting fire from the coil to the distributor, but there is nothing coming from the distributor to the plugs. It has a brand new coil.
I am waiting for a new distributor cap and rotor to arrive.

Can anyone advise me on how to check if the timing on the car has slipped?

Is there a quick way to tell if the timing chain has slipped?
