Default 1994 C280 Coolant Leak

1994 C280 noticed a small coolant leak on garage floor. Looking inside unable to locate the source, removed the radiator cap and the leak flowed faster. Have not driven it since, and it appears like all the radiator fluid has run out judging the amount in the collection pan . I tried putting more fluid in after checking the hoses to be sure all were tight, and most of that has run out now. Closer looking today I find hose going up from the water pump(?) has completey come off from the engine. Could this be the problem? My first MB and finding my way around under the hood. Usually a quick replacement of the hose or when needed the radiator, but I can't see where this leak is coming from. Frustrating to say the least. Any input is welcomed. I really don't want to have to have it towed to a repair shop if I can fix it simply on my own. THXS!

the only easy way to find out is to pump 1.5 bar pressure on the cooling system and do visual check.
