Default TEMP. LUG BOLTS

Hi, everyone. Hope someone may have an answer to this. In my 2001 SLK owners manual, it states that only the lug bolts in the "tool kit" can be used with the spare tire. I have nolug bolts, other thanwhat are on the wheels. Is this a true statement, and amI in deep do-do, if I need to use the spare?

that depends if your spare is a space saver or normal type. compare it with the other four.

never use long normal screws on black rims (spare).

The normal bolts used with the space saver wheel (steel) WILL hit the handbrake shoes and rip them to bits as they are too long. The Alloy wheel has a thicker seat so bolts do not protrude as far.

Thanks bazzel. You are 100% correct. I did a little investigating and found the same facts in your reply.
