SLK R170 Boot Lock
Hi guys,
I've had an SLK 230 for 8 months trouble-free so far, but now I can't shut the boot - the lock won't appear to engage. I had to try 3 or 4 times last week to close it once, but now it won't close at all. I canuse ascrewdriver to push the engagement pawl up, butit won't appear to stay in place.Any ideas as to what is causing this?
cheers,

RE: SLK R170 Boot Lock
make sure the latch is in the right position. You want to see the split end up. I think the latch is on the deck lid and the catch bar is on the sill. If you don't see an opening and it looks like there is a piece of metal in the latch, take a small screw driver push the open button on the deck lid and a light pull should open the latch.

Thanks for the reply tmimb - the latch is staying open rather than closed, i.e. you can see the gap in the latch ok, with the hook off to the right, but when you push the mechanism up like it would when engaging the latch, I can'tget it to stay closed - seems to not engage in the closed position at all.

I still need to know where the wires coming from the boot lid catch end, brown is earth,- pin 52? -other?
I think there is a break in the harness, and would like to trace after pulling from the micro switch, and exposing the female half plug
(getting desperate)
regards
Brian
