Default slk interior

My mothers slk was peeling very bad. I have posted before and after pictures. If you live in the Dallas area, I can do this for you.

Hi, job.
How did you get the old paint off.
What was the spec of paint you used and did you etch in order to get the paint to stick?

Just interested.
My paint hasn't peeled.
Its most probably all that SUN you have in the USA.
Today it is snowing here in the UK!
YES Snow.

Hi,

Well, today it is sunny and 75 here in Dallas. I used fine grit sandpaper to get
the old paint off. I did not have to etch or prime to get the new paint to
stick, however, I made sure everything was very clean. Getting the paint to
match was the hard part. I went to a hobby shop and got the paint color
anthracite, but it did not match the color in the car. It was metallic. So, I
had to get some black and gray and mix it until it was the exact match.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Thought you may have used some "special" technique to get the paint off without damaging the "grain".
Likewise was looking for some specific paint type paint details. Getting paint to stick to flexible components is not that straight forward.
FWIW car manufacturers don't use "standard" names for their paint colours. Usually choose a theme like semi precious stones or spices or other "up market" names to fit in with the ambience they wish to portray.
The same paint colour is often supplied by the paint manufacturer to many different auto companies since extensive testing is required to ensure colour fastness etc. and of course even Black and White come in millions of different shades and surface reflectivity.

Stuart.
