Default prospective buyer: trans question

Hello all, been a German car fan since day one. I'm getting rid of my 1987 Porsche 944 and I'm interested in a used SLK 230 (99-01?).

My main concern is with the transmission. I'm a manual transmission fan, and if I'm going to throw down over $20k for a car, it better have a stick. What's the info on the SLKs? Do they make them with a stick? I'm not talking about the trendy new "sport-auto-sticks" you see in all the sedans and stuff, i'm talking about a traditional 5- or 6- speed gearbox & clutch pedal.

Any information is appreciated. Thank you!

Of course the SLK 230 comes with a manual transmission! I feel that it's in a good position and has decent short throws between gears. It's not the best, but works really well. I highly recommend them because you have better control of the vehicle's performance! If possible, get the kompressor engine & AMG package to really make use of the manual trans!

Mercedes began to offer 5 speed manual in SLK 230 since the 1999 model year then I believe it was 2002 model year when they started to offer 6 speed manual for 230 and 320.
